Paula has brought hundreds of cases fighting for the rights of individuals against discrimination and governmental abuse of power. She has represented clients in many high profile cases and her clients range from executives and professionals, chiefs of police, members of the minority communities, victims of excessive force, service workers, and parents fighting to protect the rights of their children.

She was also lead counsel in two groundbreaking prison reform cases. Most recently, Paula led the team in a class action lawsuit on behalf of hundreds of transgender women in the Colorado prisons to ensure they received safe and appropriate housing and medical care. The consent decree was the first in the nation that will ensure that these women with be treated with dignity and respect. Prior to this case, Paula was lead counsel in a successful class action that ensured that the state prison system provided accessible housing, programs and medical treatment to thousands of people with disabilities who are in custody.

Paula has also been an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ community, and especially transgender youth. In 2018, Paula and the legal team representing the couple in the Masterpiece Cakeshop legal team were awarded the Case of the year Award by the Colorado LGBTQ Bar Association. For decades, she has been on the Board of Directors of Colorado Legal Service, the organization that provides legal aid to those in poverty in Colorado. She also served on the Board of Directors for OneColorado โ€“ the largest and most effective advocacy organization for LGTBQ rights in Colorado and has worked with other LGTBQ advocacy groups across the country. She has also served on the board of a non-profit organization that fights for fair treatment of low-wage earners, on the Board of the Plaintiffs Employment Lawyers Association, and on the Legal Panel for the American Civil Liberties Union. Paula was previously the President of the Faculty of Federal Advocates โ€“ the group of lawyers that practice in our federal courts and has served on the Ethics Committee for the federal court.

Paula has been repeatedly recognized in The Best Lawyersยฎ in America as one of the top lawyers in Colorado, including being repeatedly named as the โ€œLawyer of the Yearโ€ for Plaintiffs’ Employment Law. She has also been named a โ€œSuper Lawyerยฎ,โ€ a โ€œTop Lawyerโ€ in Denver, been included in the top Lawyers and โ€œTop 50 Women Lawyers in Coloradoโ€ by 5280 Magazine. Paula has won numerous other awards, including the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association โ€œCase of the Yearโ€ award for her representation of over 3000 people with disabilities who were incarcerated in inhumane conditions. Paula is frequently asked to teach various employment and civil rights issues and is regularly consulted as an expert on civil rights issues.

Ms. Greisen graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1990. She received her Geological Engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma and graduated first in her class.
